Hundreds of worldwide protests began on Tuesday, for what Anonymous hacker group called "One Million Masks march." The demonstrators aim was to "protect mankind."
Protests were planned to be held in 450 cities and towns around the world - from Tampa, Florida, to Amsterdam and Mumbai. According to the group's Facebook page, demonstrations were supposed to help people to "remember that their enemies: billionaires who own the banks and corporations that corrupt politicians who enslave people in unrighteousness."
In Washington, demonstrators chanted "Obama. Get out. We want to talk with you, "according to NBC News. In Chicago, the police and protesters exchanged hugs. While in Denver, several arrests were reported after the destruction of a building, according to The Denver Post.
In promoting the march, Anonymous said that violence will not be tolerated. The group said that "Anonymous is a peaceful movement and is not affiliated with the group think of DC's citizens to take hostage the President of the United States, Senators and Supreme Court judges." Despite several arrests, the protests have been relatively peaceful .
