With more and more employees doing their work on the go , mobile devices are becoming a major security risk for companies , according to a new study .

A study by the Ponemon Institute , a research center and Lumension Security , a security provider , found that 75 % of security professionals believe that mobile devices will constitute a major threat to the security of companies in 2014 . In addition, 68 % of respondents said that their wireless devices have been targeted by viruses in the past 12 months .

Larry Ponemon , head and founder of the Ponemon Institute , said he has seen the changing threat landscape over the past five years . Despite this finding , nearly half of surveyed security professionals , not managing mobile devices owned by employees .

While they may pose the greatest risk , mobile devices are not the only threat sigurisë.Studimi found that advanced persistent threats , which occur when a hacker enters the network of a company in an attempt to steal data or cause damage , are also becoming a major concern for professionals .
