A recently published report by research company Consumer Intelligence Research Partners ( CIRP ) shows that Google's Android operating system dominate the U.S. market . Android has taken 53 percent of all activations of smartphones for the first quarter of this year , while iOS took 42 percent of the activations of smartphones . Windows Phone and BlackBerry operating system it took only 1 per cent each, while phones Basic dyes together received 3 percent .

The CIRP data show activation and not just the actual number of devices that use Android and iOS . If the actual number will be included , probably would be a great space difference between the Android platform , which is more popular in the U.S. and worldwide . Mike Levin , co - founder of CIRP 's , said that iOS grew faster than Android from a smaller base though Android generally had a larger share of the market .

What is also interesting to note is that last year the number of activations for phones Basic dyes had 20 percent of the market , which has now fallen to 3 percent , which it seems they are to extinction . Regarding the growth of Android and iOS platforms , Levin said that " The problem is long-term growth will come from Android 's and iOS 's when most phones will not be essential. First -time buyers of smartphones are key to that equation . " CIRP was based on a survey conducted in 500 adolescents from 1 April to 6 April who activated or equipment used in the first three months of this year .
